Objectives
The Municipality of Yerevan has engaged in a strategy of sustainable tourism based on the promotion of historical and cultural heritage. In this context, it launched in 2017, with the support of the AIMF and in partnership with the Erebouni Museum, CRAterre, and the City of Geneva, a project entitled “Conservation, Restoration and Enhancement of the Archaeological Site of Erebouni for the Development of Tourism in Yerevan and Armenia”.
This project was part of the celebration of the 2800th anniversary of the founding of Erebouni in 2018 and aimed to strengthen the site’s attractiveness while developing local skills in heritage conservation and tourism management. Despite disruptions caused by the Velvet Revolution of 2018 and subsequent political and sanitary challenges, several training sessions and cultural activities were successfully implemented, notably during the Francophonie Summit held in Yerevan in October 2018.
