Objectives
The overall aim of this project is to combat poverty by improving the housing and living conditions of families in precarious situations in rural areas of El Salvador and Haiti that have been severely affected by poverty, natural disasters and, more recently, the COVID pandemic. It pays particular attention to gender discrimination, and aims to build the capacity of local partners, improve the skills of construction workers, train local residents, consolidate a network of experts and promote the exchange of best practice. The partners propose to act at three levels: local, national and international.
CRAterre is supporting this project at various levels:
- by taking part in a debate on the link between gender and housing, a theme supported by the project partners and, more broadly, by the Mak Mesoamerican network;
- by engaging in activities to co-construct knowledge and technical know-how based on a contextual and local approach;
- by providing support for networking at national and international level of the players mobilised around the values promoted by the project;
- by promoting sensible solutions and architectures that have a positive impact on the various pillars of sustainable development.
