The scientific policy pursues a commitment to three fundamental issues:

  • 1

How can we contribute to the fight against poverty?

  • 2

How can we better manage natural resources?

  • 3

How can we make the most of cultural diversity?

These three questions are approached through the prism of three major research themes: "Heritage", "Materials" and "Habitat". These three themes are at once distinct and transversal, and constitute the coherent figure of the research project. They are ordered and coordinated on the same plane of immanence, that of construction, of building for man, of human settlements, but also of "building light for the planet" (sobriety, frugality, including energy). Unesco Chair

As part of the Unesco Chair in "Earthen Architectures, Constructive Cultures and Sustainable Development", the team supports the development of specialized teaching in universities and professional training centers worldwide.

DSA Earthen architecture

The team takes part in the post-master's program in earthen architecture at Grenoble's Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture. The two-year DSA in earthen architecture is still the only course of its kind in the world.

Short courses

At the same time, numerous classroom and field training programs are organized in partnership with other organizations. From training sites to the development of educational programs, the team covers a wide range of didactic engineering skills. In France, we mainly take part in training courses organized by Les Grands Ateliers in Villefontaine.
