Objectives
The project is developing strategies to promote suitable housing through local building practices based on care for the home, ways of organising and living in it and management of common goods in harmony with the local area.
At local level, workshops with communities, and particularly women, will enable the identification, enhancement and sharing of knowledge and know-how for the care of the habitat, from the home to the territory.
At national level, the project is setting up a range of training courses for a variety of audiences, as well as initiatives for the right to housing and sustainable housing.
At regional level, meetings between members of the MesoAméri-Kaab (MAK) network and other strategic actors encourage exchanges, alliances and the dissemination of initiatives.
Results
To consolidate and disseminate good practice in improving housing adapted to the local area, using a gender-based approach, at local, national and regional level, and focusing on 3 areas of work:
1. Housing and gender. Women from rural and peri-urban communities, trained at a technical, organisational and political level, contribute to improving their homes and communities.
2. Sustainable housing and integrated risk management. Residents strengthen their technical and organisational capacity to build and maintain housing, while partners improve their understanding of the dynamics of the production and social management of housing and strengthen their capacity to promote suitable housing.
3. Knowledge sharing, partnerships and dissemination. Local CSOs enrich their thematic training courses with the creation of methods, tools and teaching content adapted to the contexts and target audiences. The MAK network improves its communication capabilities and raises its profile.
