Objectives
The aim of this project is to produce a Shelter Response Profil (SRP) for north-eastern Nigeria, covering the states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa, in order to document and guide shelter and housing response practices. It is based on a participatory approach involving training in participatory analysis of local housing and building cultures, and co-production of the SRP with local partners. The process includes a literature review, field data collection, and several evaluation and validation workshops involving academic institutions and experts. After scientific validation by CRAterre and AE&CC, the final document is published and disseminated, with a follow-up strategy for its updating and support for the next steps related to local building cultures.
This project made it possible to:
1. strengthened the capacity of IOM and local partners in the participatory analysis of local building cultures and habitat
through training and ongoing monitoring;
2. the co-production and open-access publication of a Shelter Response Profil (SRP) for north-eastern Nigeria.
