Objectives

Since 2015, Emmaus International has been developing the Habitat Program, in partnership with the Fondation pour le Logement des Défavorisés. This program aims to support projects related to housing and improving living conditions. It benefits members of Emmaus groups and the communities with which they work. Since its inception, this program has met a strong need, but a number of constraints and weaknesses have been identified (projects focused on one-off needs, with limited local impact, little or no co-financing, difficulties encountered by groups in developing and formulating needs in project mode, and in integrating ecological issues into their buildings, etc.). In light of these observations, an agreement to set up “enhanced support” for project leaders has been put in place with CRAterre.

Specific objectives of the partnership :

  • Improve Emmaus group housing projects around the world, in terms of design, assembly, impact assessment and development of local channels for adapted materials;
    Help Emmaus International and its member groups to develop their skills in the production of sustainable housing, from both a social and technical point of view.
