Objectives

In order to improve the quality of CRS Burkina Faso's programme for scaling up and contextualising responses in the shelter sector through the Homes & Communities Initiative supported by the Shelter Cluster, CRS contacted CRAterre for temporary support. The aim of the project was to provide technical support for the drafting of guidelines in the areas of community participation, access to land for displaced people and the design and typology of shelters as part of the activities of the Burkina Faso Shelter Cluster.

This support took the form of :

  1. documentary research on three themes: community participation, access to land for displaced people and shelter design and typologies.
  2. preparing and sharing a common strategy and planning activities for the drafting of guidelines with the Technical Working Group (TWG).
  3. preparing and organising a first meeting between the humanitarian shelter response sector and the university academic sector in Burkina Faso to analyse the possibilities for collaboration between these two sectors.
