Objectives

We are working with IOM in Somalia to help move from emergency shelters (mostly tents) to more comfortable and durable shelter solutions. This is relevant because the displacement of people affected by crises tends to last, and emergency solutions lose their relevance.

CRAterre has contributed its expertise at different levels. A participatory analysis of habitat took place in Doolow and Baidoa, the two cities where CRAterre has been providing support in recent months. Training missions (adobe production and construction) have taken place in the field in Mogadishu and then in Doolow and Baidoa and continue to take place. A remote technical support takes place throughout the mission, particularly for the follow-up of the construction of different prototypes and demonstrative buildings in both cities.
