Objectives
This project, financed by the Fondation Abbé Pierre (FAP) and implemented by YAAM Solidarité with technical support from CRAterre, was set up in the undeveloped districts of Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso for the period from December 2023 to November 2024. The aim was to improve the living conditions of the people living in the undeveloped districts of Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs). It was based on sustainable and participative solutions, favouring environmentally-friendly architecture adapted to local needs.
Specific objective(s) :
- To consolidate and capitalise on the experience gained in the Boassa district and facilitate the replication of innovative solutions in other districts with a view to improving the housing and living environment of vulnerable populations, particularly internally displaced people.
- To promote environmentally-friendly architecture that creates local jobs and is adapted to the housing needs of low-income populations and internally displaced persons.
Results
- 53 families benefited from support to improve their housing through the housing fund;
- 265 internally displaced persons (IDPs) benefited from improved housing conditions;
- 400 people benefited from improvements to their IGAs;
- 13 craftsmen were trained and equipped in housing improvement techniques;
- 400 people learned about environmental protection and waste management;
- 30 new groups have been set up and have joined the residents' federation;
- 1,600 families have benefited from improved living conditions thanks to community initiatives (flexible funds);
- 90 students or pupils from schools and training centres have benefited from awareness-raising sessions on earth construction.
