Objectives
Winner of the “Supporting Green Alternatives 2” call for projects as part of the France 2030 programme, the Mahorese Workshop for Earth Building (AMATECO) project aims to establish a low-carbon production sector on the island of Mayotte, using excavated earth and locally sourced plant fibers as the main raw materials for manufacturing construction materials.
The structuring of the sector involves the creation of an R&D centre, including an incubator shared between different manufacturers, whose design and management will enable to achieve quality standards that meet the requirements of certification bodies and insurance companies, as well as a training centre to develop the skills of all stakeholders.
