The Cicle Network is organising the third edition of its annual in-person forum on Wednesday 7 October 2026 at the Académie du Climat in Paris.
This Forum is the key event bringing together organisations working in international cooperation to promote access to energy and the energy transition. Building on previous editions, this one-day event will be dedicated to discussions on the challenges facing international energy and climate cooperation. It will bring together stakeholders committed to energy access and the energy transition, and will provide a unique opportunity to exchange perspectives, stimulate reflection and strengthen synergies.
This year, the Forum will highlight the role of local and regional authorities’ external action in energy transitions. The thematic workshops will provide a space for discussion and reflection on several major issues in the energy sector: reciprocity in international cooperation, carbon finance, economic models for local public energy services, green building, and the links between national energy planning and international cooperation.
CRAterre will be speaking at the forum during Workshop 4, ‘Building differently: making the construction sector a lever for regional transition’, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
In the face of population growth and rapid urbanisation, the need for sustainable social infrastructure — schools, health centres, public facilities — is increasing in many countries of the Global South. These projects must address a range of challenges: cost control, adaptation to climatic conditions, reducing dependence on imported materials, and improving the sustainability of buildings and the comfort of users. In this context, green building represents a promising approach. However, its uptake remains limited by technical, economic, regulatory and institutional barriers. This workshop will help to identify areas for action and explore the conditions necessary to integrate green building more widely into social infrastructure projects.
