In 2025, in a global context marked by the proliferation of crises and the increase in vulnerabilities, CRAterre has continued its commitment to promoting earth, local knowledge and building cultures as drivers of transition. The achievements presented in this report illustrate CRAterre’s ability to operate at multiple scales and across complementary fields of action.
2025 AT A GLANCE

In 2025, our teams implemented 30 projects, including 5 initiatives contributing to the implementation of UNESCO’s 1972 World Heritage Convention, 3 disaster risk reduction initiatives, 4 housing improvement projects for the most vulnerable populations, and 2 actions aimed at strengthening the integration of gender perspectives into housing programmes. We also carried out 2 programmes focused on the technical and regulatory validation of earth-based building materials, provided support to 3 architectural projects in France and contributed to 2 initiatives dedicated to strengthening local production sectors. Beyond these interventions, CRAterre continued its efforts to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building through 16 training and outreach activities, contributions to 57 publications, participation in 6 podcasts, and the presentation of 24 papers and communications at scientific and professional events.
Together, these actions reflect our commitment to addressing contemporary challenges by linking heritage conservation, social inclusion, construction innovation, and ecological transition.
