La terre est une matière première !

L'homme l'utilise comme matériau depuis des millénaires pour construire des maisons, même en France ou en Allemagne. Boudée depuis l'arrivée massive de son proche cousin le béton, dans les années 50, elle revient au goût du jour. Ses atouts écologiques et esthétiques attirent en effet les architectes contemporains.

Grâce à de nombreuses expériences, vous comprendrez comment et pourquoi il est possible de construire en terre. Il est temps de redécouvrir ce qu'il y a sous nos pieds...

Building with raw earth...
An exhibition to help you rediscover what is beneath your feet !
from 1st October 2010 to 22nd August 2011

A whole host of experiments therefore await the initiated and novices alike to help them to discover the many facets of granular materials and to show them how and why it is possible to make buildings with raw earth.
Youngsters and adults will be encouraged to get their hands dirty as they try out some amazing experiments.
Compare, shake, press, classify, move, tap, turn, overturn... so many ways of handling raw earth to learn about its composition, or that of its opposite terracotta, to see how grains behave and find out more about building techniques, in particular the wattle and daub technique so emblematic of Alsace.

„Baumeister Lehm“
Ausstellung ab dem 1. Oktober 2010 bis dem 22. August 2011

Lehm ist ein Ur-Material!
Der Mensch verwendet ihn seit Jahrtausenden, um Häuser zu bauen, auch in Frankreich oder in Deutschland. Seit der massiven Einführung seines nah verwandten Cousins, dem Beton in der 50er Jahren wurde der Lehm vernachlässigt, wird aber heute wiederentdeckt. Seine ökologischen und ästhetischen Vorteile reizen fortschrittliche Architekten.
Vielfältige Experimente werden Ihnen zeigen, wie und wieso man mit Lehm bauen kann. Es ist Zeit, die Materie unter unseren Füßen wieder zu entdecken.
