Welcome and thank you for your interest in the 2021 Natural Building Conference. This year we will be visiting the beautiful Nelson-Tasman region, one of the country’s natural building hot spots.

The conference program will include:

  • Two house tours showcasing a nice variety of homes and techniques, including Light Adobe, Rammed Earth, Strawbale, LEM and an Adobe manufacture, training and research site
  • A wide range of speakers covering topics with an overarching focus on climate change and natural building: thermal modelling of Light Adobe, embodied energy considerations, passive solar design, retrofitting with natural materials, bio-based materials in design, Strawbale Passive House, and an update on the proposed changes to the Building Code as it relates to Earth Building
  • The ever popular 5×5 where attendees share their projects and experiences
  • Prime opportunity to network with natural building professionals and enthusiasts from around the country
  • An additional optional full-day house tour to Golden Bay

The conference price includes all meals on the weekend up to Monday breakfast, and bus transport for the house tours on all days.

Please note that participants are required to find their own accommodation locally. We will send out suggestions with the conference info. Transport to and from the conference venue is up to participants and will not be organized by EBANZ.

Please note that in order to participate by law we are required to sign you up as an EBANZ member. If you are not yet a member, this will be additional to the conference price in the registration form. Membership includes 3 issues of the Earthbuilding Magazine each year.

We are making a number of partial scholarships available to students, apprentices or young people who cannot afford the reduced Unwaged conference rate. If this is something you would like to apply for, please email Verena and explain your situation. ebanzconference@gmail.com
